  I object to calling "the longest horned cow in the breed (that) is not producing ... is a “glorified steer”.  Don't diss real trophy steers that way! Such a cow may be serving as a 'steer' in the pasture, but such a cow is only a shadow of a 'real' steer.  She certainly won't have the size or the horn of a true "trophy steer"; in most cases she won't have the color of a true champion trophy steer either. 
FYI. Hullabaloo just went Grand Champion steer at Fort Worth and Houston at five years of age (80' horns, 1600 lbs, and tri-color brindle).
