Meet Russell Hooks
Let me start by introducing myself to those of you who may not know me, my name is Russell Hooks. I am the founder of The Longhorn Round-Up News and the creator of this website. I have been in the Texas Longhorn business since 1980 when I was introduced to this unique breed of cattle at the age of twelve. Longhorns have been a part of my life ever since. For five generations my family has made a living in the cattle industry and I continue that tradition today. However, I am the only one to specialize in a particular breed of cattle. It seems once you get Longhorns in your blood it is hard to think about working with any other breed. Ever since becoming old enough to hold a job I have worked in the Longhorn industry…as a custom fitter of show cattle, ranch manager, cattle/herd consultant, sale manager and licensed auctioneer. I am also a member and show judge for both Longhorn associations. I raise and maintian a small herd of cattle that are most of Butler Breeding.
